Last weekend I decided I wanted to make something to fill the wall in the staircase. I had seen online ways of displaying places you have lived or that were sentimental. Since we have moved a bunch, I thought that would be a meaningful thing to make. I had a pack of frames that had matting already, I went online and printed the maps for the different places we have lived and then cut them out with the same size heart.
In my craft room I wanted to add something to a wall that was empty and since we had these wooden plaques left over from another project I decided to stain them and then add some letters to start a feature wall.
We were given this dresser many years ago by a family member and it was a little dated almost a yellow color with gold hardware. I have always wanted to change it up and finally decided a couple weekends ago to go ahead and paint it. It ended up being way easier and looking nicer than I thought it would end up looking. I chose a satin white interior paint, and started to prep the dresser. First, I took all the hardware off so that I could spray paint them with an oil rubbed spray paint. Then, I took all the drawers out and placed them with the good side up. I placed a tarp under the dresser it self so that I wouldn’t get paint on my carpet.
Our favorite side dish in our family is mashed potatoes. We tend to add a little bit of everything into them once they are mashed. In this version that I made, I added some cream cheese, a dash of milk, little bit of butter, salt and pepper, cilantro, parmesan cheese, and french onion dip.
I wanted to make a different kind of chili with chicken so I kind of just threw some things together and it came out pretty good. It reheats well for a make ahead dinner for the week.
My daughter recently had a birthday and she was very specific about the cake that she wanted so instead of trying to find it we made it together. She wanted strawberry cake with vanilla frosting. We found a strawberry mix and poured it into two 8 inch pans baking as instructed on the box. We sprayed the pans very well so that they would easily come out without falling apart.
One of my go-to make ahead dinners for the week is this easy and quick cheesy chicken and rice casserole. Not only is it good but you can easily mix it up with different things added to it. (The part that I like the best about it is the yellow mustard it gives it a unique taste.)
I can’t seem to keep up with Bananas lately before they start getting overly ripe. I started making Banana Bread because my kids like it but also because it is very easy to make. Here is a very simple recipe for the Banana Bread I use regularly. You can easily add different ingredients to make it your own. For example, nuts or different kinds of chocolate chips
My sister gifted me a scrapbook when I first started crafting scrapbooks. She had made the cover and I slowly added pages of girls trips and events- that we had pictures of us together. Down the road it will be a gift to someone and I will keep adding to it little by little as I get more pictures of us. The tricky part is keeping it in a timeline if possible.
I have made a lot of wreaths to decorate my house specifically for Christmas. I don’t like them to all be the same and I don’t like to spend a lot of money on decorations so I usually buy the plain wreaths and add floral stems and bows. I mix up the kind of wreath and items that I add but all of my decorations have the same colors etc. Wreaths are a great way to decorate not only the front door, but can be used in balconies, windows, and above fireplaces.
