DIY Bow Holder

DIY Bow Holder

Every little girl deserves a place to put/collect her bows!  This was originally a bulletin board that I covered in fabric and stapled down.  I then found a ribbon that would match her room and stapled it in vertical stripes.  The bows can easily slip on and off the ribbon for those crazy mornings getting ready and trying to get out the door.  We placed this above her changing table as a baby, and now that she is older it is over her dresser.

In my craft room, I wasn’t going to spend money to decorate the walls.  I wanted to make something that would go with the colors of the room but also were “crafty”.  I had a canvas that I decided to draw and paint a tree trunk, and then for the leaves, I used buttons of different colors and sizes and glued them in place.

I made this simple framed wall decor many years ago when my son was about a year old.  I used a mixture of some scrapbook paper and card stock, traced our hands and then cut out the hands and glued them on top of each other.  I used colors that would match my dinning room, but it could be used anywhere in the house.  I added my daughters hand when she was born and added a color that would still work with our dinning room.

My living room and kitchen are open into a great room.  So I wanted to make something for the wall in the kitchen to match the metal tree/wood decor I made for over my couch.  After searching for ideas online on what to make I decided that I could easily make something with the same wood I used for the living room decor.  I still had beadboard pieces left over from the pack I had bought for that project and so I did the same thing.

Handmade Metal Tree and Wood Wall Decor

When we bought our house, I needed to fill a lot of walls with decor and as I started looking around online I found a metal tree on a piece of reclaimed wood that I loved but didn’t love the price!  I wasn’t about to pay 299 dollars for anything, especially to put on my wall above my couch.
