Bulletin Boards in kids rooms

When we moved into this house, the kid’s bedrooms both had this cool board on one wall.  I had so many ideas for what I could make these into, ex – chalkboards, white boards, corkboards.  The kids that had been in this house before us were college-age, so the existing boards were covered in fabric that was floral and had seen better days.

Pillowcase Service Project

When I retired, I joined a quilt club in a neighboring town.  This group not only works on their own individual projects but does many service projects.  Since we live close to several hospitals, we started making pillowcases and super hero capes for kids going through chemotherapy and don’t have a lot of choices in their lives.  We try to make them fun with super hero fabrics or other fun fabrics.

Wedding Scrapbook

Our Wedding scrapbook is one of the first full scrapbooks I did and it took me many hours to finish.  I used a lot of stickers for the letters which is hard, because you have to line them up and fit them in spaces trying to keep them centered. Spacing it hard to do, but it gives it a more custom look I guess.

Disney Vacation Scrapbook

In this post, I want to show how easy it is to scrapbook a family vacation.  I like to keep it simple by using the same set of colors and basic layouts.  For this Disney vacation, I decided to stick with more Primary colors because I had a book of plain colored scrapbook paper I was trying to use up.  I made groups of pictures to set up my pages I tried to stick to a chronological timeline of the trip and set it up with different events/ parks.

Burlap Initial Wall Decor

I had a frame that the glass had broken in a move, but  I still wanted to use it for something so I built a simple wall decor by using burlap and writing on it.  I used a stencil for the initial “P”, placed it where I wanted it, and drew on the burlap with a permanent marker.  For the writing below the Initial I just typed on the computer our names and date of when we got married in the font and size I wanted and printed it out.

Shamrock Hallway Wall Decor

Shamrock Hallway Wall Decor

When we found a handful of 4 leaf clovers in our front yard, I had to make something with them especially because some of them were huge! First thing I did was press them into a book so they would dry out and flatten. I laid them out flat in a thick book and closed it for a few days.  When they were dry, I layered a couple pieces of scrap book paper using scrapbook glue and then I attached the shamrock on top. I placed each one in a frame and then arranged them in the hallway around a wall decal.

Dandelion Painted on Stained Wood

Dandelion Painted on Stained Wood

Our Master bedroom and bathroom is decorated with floral prints, and when I was looking to put something on the wall in the bathroom I decided to make a painting of a dandelion. I am not a great painter but I saw a print like this and thought it would be easy to replicate and it was.

Floral Scrapbook Paper Canvas

Floral Scrapbook Paper Canvas

This was my first project using “Mod Podge.” I had a canvas that I wanted to do something with so I made a petal design from a piece of card stock and used that as my templet to cut out a bunch of petals with 4 different scrapbook paper patterns/colors. I arranged them on each edge of the canvas to look like half of a flower.
