Homemade Frank’s Red Hot

The other thing that I made from the unexpected bounty of cayenne peppers that we got in the farm share was Homemade Frank’s Red Hot.  This recipe doesn’t make very much, but it could easily be doubled, tripled…..you get the idea.  It’s super easy and quick.

about 20 cayenne peppers – just clean and cut the stem off

1 1/2 cup of white vinegar

1 tsp salt

Garlic to taste – I used fresh diced garlic

I put this all in a medium sized pot and boiled for about 20 minutes.  Then I ran it through a blender/food processor and then strained it through a mesh strainer.  I canned it but you could also just put it in the fridge.  I would recommend storing this in a glass container.

My  husband actually saved the pulp that we strained off and he added it as a pepper relish topping to lots of dishes that week.
