Fluffy Scarves

I started picking up knitting again this year. I made these 2 scarves out of Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn. The orange and pink one is for my daughter and the white one is for me. Each one is done with Seed Stitch – alternating knit stitch and purl stitch on an odd number of stiches. I love this yarn for scarves because it’s soft, thick and has a little stretch to it!

Easy Birthday Cake

My daughter recently had a birthday and she was very specific about the cake that she wanted so instead of trying to find it we made it together.  She wanted strawberry cake with vanilla frosting.  We found a strawberry mix and poured it into two 8 inch pans baking as instructed on the box.  We sprayed the pans very well so that they would easily come out without falling apart.

Cute gift idea for teacher

Each year my daughter likes to make her teacher something for Christmas.  This is the first year when she has more than one teacher, so we had to think of something that would be cheap but could be customized for each teacher.  I challenged her to come up with something that would use up some of the arts and craft supplies that we already had.

Fall Mantle Decor

Decorating for the seasons is a fun way to change up the decor in your house and my favorite season is FALL!  I like to get strands of leaves and drape them along the mantle and I add some pumpkins and lanterns etc. to go along with it.  The one thing I always do, is change out the wreath that is attached to the mirror above the mantle.

Burlap Wreath

I don’t like to spend money on wreaths, I always feel like they are way over priced.  I wanted to make a burlap one because a lot of the decor in my house is burlap/farmhouse, plus my front door is a dark chocolate brown so I needed something light colored that would stand out from the road.  I bought a wired wreath form and 3-4 burlap ribbon spools that were about 3 inches wide.
